Hello
I’m Jen Thomas, owner &
creator of Cakey Lulu’s
I’ve always loved baking and making delicious treats, even from a very early age with my mum when we would bake brownies together. I never really saw myself as a particularly ‘creative’ person, although I really enjoyed art and found I had a knack for still-life sketching. As I grew up I pursued a very different path, completing a law degree and then joining the Police Force.
I am married to Nathan, and have two beautiful daughters - Lexi and Maia.
It was in having children that I rediscovered my love for baking and decorating beautiful cakes (starting off with their birthday cakes of course). I discovered that I had a hidden talent for decorating cakes, following in the footsteps of my wonderful Grandmother who herself was a wedding cake designer specialising in beautiful, ornate piping details and intricate sugar flowers. After 12 years as a Constable, I officially traded my uniform for an apron, and Cakey Lulu’s was born!
After I had my second daughter, I decided to take a career break.
My life-long love of all things
“wedding” steered me toward
my true passion:
Designing and creating beautifully elegantwith pretty sugar flowers and hand painted details, for couples to share with their guests on their most special day!
After spending many hours taste-testing new recipes (it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!), I have come up with some truly delicious and indulgent flavour combinations to tease your taste buds.
and delicious wedding cakes,I love to meet couples and find out about their individual styles.
Of course some couples already know exactly what sort of wedding cake they want, but I am always excited to come up with a beautiful design for those who have no idea!
The Cakey Lulu’s service is truly bespoke, and every detail is planned out from design to delivery to ensure a perfect cake for your special day.
